Morning of the Solstice.
The Washington Post contacted me asking if I would take some photos of the Winter Solstice for them… here are a couple of the shots. Kind of exciting though almost everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. 2 lenses went kaput, camera wouldn’t turn on consistently and the amount of coffee required to get me out of bed at 6:30am had some negative side effects. Many thanks to mikeontheinternets for letting me borrow his 8mm fisheye, which along w/ the simplistic, but always reliable, 50mm 1.8 saved the day. The following photos appeared on WashingtonPost.com

Snowtober

Flooding
In early September we got quite a bit of rain – some places 7+ inches in one day and event totals of over 15″. Some of these Pics ended up being featured on the Washington Post’s weather page which was pretty cool along with ArlNow, the up and coming Arlington News site.
Kirby Road in McLean starts to flood.
Tough weather to take pictures in… Damn you Autofocus.
Garage flooding in Alexandria — extremely difficult to get a good shot, my equipment was not liking the rain and the dark background (2:30am), and then the fluourescent lights reflecting off the flood water was just not something i was used to. Enough excuses – here’s some of the aftermath along Eisenhower Ave. in Alexandria.
